Hello there, brides! Will we ever tire of the classic traditional red lehenga? I think not! If you’re looking for some lehenga inspiration for your big day + where to find awesome wedding lehengas in Kolkata, here are some fab ideas! Planned to perfection by Center Point Events, enjoy Ankita and Vikas’s Marwadi- Sindhi wedding captured brilliantly by Salim Khan Photography at Holiday Inn Mumbai.
When our beautiful Marwadi bride Ankita set out to marry her Sindhi groom Vikas, she knew that she wanted a wedding that had a beautiful harmony of the wedding rituals of both communities. So she made it a point that both the rituals were followed and had one priest from her side and one priest from the groom’s side. This way none of the families felt that their customs were not being followed during the wedding! Clever, Ankita!
The Sangeet was held at Mirage, Mumbai. The bride wore a romantic pink and purple lehenga with soft curls in her hair. She paired it with elegant pearls.Vikas looked dapper in a navy blue bandhgala.
The wedding took place at Holiday Inn, Mumbai. Take a look at Ankita’s drop dead gorgeous wedding lehenga custom made by Studio AV, Kolkata. The colour combination of this lehenga is absolutely delightful! Love the way Ankita opted for 2 dupattas of different colours. The bright mango yellow dupatta goes so well with the red and silver lehenga with purple detailing at the borders. Paired with outstanding jewellery, our bride looks stunning as she celebrates her most special day.
Utterly adore how she’s beaming with joy as Salim Khan manages to capture candid shots of the blushing bride.
Isn’t this mandap gorgeous? The soft pink and purple hues used to light up the room and the mandap decorated with soft blooms looks ethereal.
Salim Khan is a master at capturing candid shots. Wouldn’t you agree?
From the bride:
Hi Ankita! Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding with us. How did you meet your husband and when did you know he was your soul mate?
I met Vikas through a common friend. My friend asked me to meet Vikas who was then a pilot with Go Air so that we could all hang out together. But the first time we met we did not click well as he thought I was very snobbish and even I had the same opinion of him. However, as we had a common friend we kept meeting at various parties. Gradually we started talking, and slowly, as destiny would have it, we grew very fond of each other. Six months down the line we realized we wanted to be together forever and decided to get married.
We both have different personalities but very similar liking. We both love travelling and hanging out with friends. Vikas is very expressive and I am not. But I love that about him 🙂
Tell us about your wedding.
We got married at Holiday Inn, Mumbai. Since Vikas is from Mumbai and I have been working in Mumbai for the past 6 years, Mumbai was/is like my second home. Also Mumbai is a better choice in terms of venue and flight connectivity keeping the guests of both sides in mind.
We loved your lehenga! How did you decide on your dream wedding lehenga? Did you research the net? Did you work with a designer?
All I knew was that I wanted a red lehenga for my wedding. As Kolkotta is the hub when it comes to an Indian outfits, we decided to go there and check out the collection in all famous designer studios. We started with Studio A V as many of my cousins bought their wedding lehenga from there. The collection was very nice. The moment I saw my pretty red lehenga I knew this is what I want to wear for my big day. I got it customised in my size but kept the same pattern and work.
How about hair and makeup? Did you already have a style in mind or did you work with a specialist to find your perfect look?
Internet has made our life so much easier in terms understanding the latest trends, fashion and design. As soon as the wedding date got finalised, I started short listing images of the bridal look that would suit my personality and body type. Once that was over, I took suggestions from my makeup artist as to which hair style and look amongst the shortlisted looks will suit my face structure. Farhan my makeup artist did a fantastic job in finalising the final look and make me look just perfect on my big day.
How did you choose your photographer? Did he deliver to your expectations?
I was looking for a candid photographer who would fit into my budget.I got in touch with many candid photographers whose work was really nice but was far beyond my budget. After a month of hard work and research one of my friends told me to meet Salim and said that he is really good at his work and would work as per my budget. When I met him, I was bowled over by his work and passion for wedding photography and that he was ready to work within my budget. I’m happy that I hired him for my big day. My friends and family are in love with him!
Again, thanks for sharing Ankita! we’ll be back with another wedding by Salim Khan Photography that you don’t want to miss!
