Hola girls! Your wedding gown is pretty much going to be the most photographed piece of clothing you will ever wear- and it needs to be spectacular! (No pressure!!) If you’re going crazy worrying about your perfect wedding dress- don’t stress! Here are some tips that will help you along the way.
So here’s our guide to finding the perfect Wedding Gown:
REFERNCES! REFERENCES! AND MORE REFERENCES
Start pulling out pictures from magazines and stalk profiles of designers like Vera Wang and Versace on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook. Most Indian brides rely on a local tailor or boutique to stitch their wedding dress, make sure you take pictures of the dresses and styles you liked online to the local store for them to get a better understanding of your taste and preferences.
FITTED AND FABULOUS
Two simple things to keep in mind while finalizing your bridal wedding dress is that it has to fit like a dream and look absolutely fabulous!
Structured materials like silk satin are an ideal choice for form-fitting gowns. Organza, chiffon and net are other options.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOR
A bridal gown is usually white. But there are some shades to choose within the white palette as well. Your bridal store will show you many fabric swatches to choose from. Some of the most popular options are:
Stark white
This is the brightest and most intense shade of white (associate it with the white in Ujala and Tide Ads). This shade will look even better if yours is a dusky complexion.
Natural White
This is one or two shades off stark white. It has yellow undertones.
Ivory
Ivory is the color of the eggshell. Some ivory dresses have a good amount of yellow undertones making them look creamy.
EMBROIDERY
If you don’t want a plain look on your wedding gown you can incorporate metallic accents in the gown. Silver beading or embroidery in the bodice goes well with cool complexions. Gold accents brighten a white gown for warmer complexions. I’m personally a big fan of intricate embroidery, light beading and one-dimensional appliqués for design details that won’t overwhelm.

COLOR ACCENT
A color accent may be introduced along with the white gown. Many wedding gown collections include gowns with color accents like blush and rose pink. Color can also be introduced in a bolero jacket or through jewelry or even through the headpiece. For example, gemstones in a choker or a pair of dramatic earrings can add a bit of drama to the wedding gown. Jeweled hair pins are another option for adding shine and color to the wedding ensemble. Or how about a glitzy belt detail to highlight your tiny waistline and add some color.
IF YOU WISH TO WEAR SLEEVES
An empire waistline creates a lengthening effect while these fluttery chiffon sleeves act as the most ethereal cover up.
SHORT SLEEVES
STRAPLESS
NECKLINES
A square neckline, V shaped, Sweetheart neckline, scoop neckline and off shoulder are the most popular choices. I also absolutely love illusion necklines and lace.
MY FAVOURITE PICKS
My personal fav is a long row of teensy pearl buttons and a well-placed ruffle or two that can make a world of a difference to your dress.
